Prikhodko Dmitry, Agricultural Economist, FAO

Economics with specialization in Farm Accounting from the State Academy of Agriculture and Ecology of Ukraine (1995) and Cand. Sc. degree in Environmental and Nature Resource Economics (Ph.D. equivalent in FSU countries, 1999) from Lviv State Agricultural University. Dmitry has 8 years of experience with the Foreign Agricultural Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Ukraine as a principal analyst responsible for grains, oilseeds, sugar, dairy, livestock and poultry sectors analysis as well as technical assistance, food aid, and trade policy reviews and negotiations. He also worked for Cargill Inc. as an analyst responsible for grain and oilseed production, consumption and trade projections and business development research. After joining FAO in 2006, he has worked on a number of agricultural sector studies under the EBRD-FAO and the WB-FAO Cooperative Programs. Dmitry’s recent work includes a number of sector work/reviews, including: Sugar, Meat and Fishery Sectors in the Russian Federation, Grain market reviews in Russia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine, Turkmenistan agricultural sector review (all under FAO-EBRD); Kyrgyzstan Supply Chain Analysis, Agricultural Machinery in FSU countries, Pakistan Wheat Sector Review and Storage Options; public expenditures research in Belarus and Azerbaijan (World Bank); technical assistance work: Preparation of the FAO/EBRD Agribusiness Handbooks, assistance to the Kazakhstan Sunflower Seed Sector and Dairy Farmers in Northern Ukraine in cooperation with EBRD and its private sector clients; investment project support work in the Tajikistan Cotton Sector (World Bank).
